Purple Circle-Vine Dress

As a diaspora woman, finding pieces that actually honor where I'm from while fitting my body is rare. This dress does both. I wore it to an alumni gala and felt grounded and beautiful—not trying to fit into someone else's idea of elegance. The way the vines climb is so intentional.

I wore this to my sister's naming ceremony in Bamenda and felt absolutely confident. The purple sits so rich against my skin, and the vines don't feel too busy—they just dance when you move. The bell sleeves gave me room to gesture and greet without feeling tight, and the length was modest for a family event.

The bell sleeves are everything—they catch the air when you dance, and the motifs really come alive in motion. I'm petite and the mid-length on me hits just right. Wore it to my cousin's wedding last month and my mother asked where I got it so she could order one for herself.

Ordered the L and it hugged me closer than I expected—not uncomfortable, just snugger than I usually prefer. The silk is buttery soft and the hand-applied details are genuinely intricate. Wore it to a friend's wedding reception in DC and got so many compliments.

The dress itself is stunning—the color combination is so thoughtful and it fits true to size. My one concern is that when I hand-washed it the first time, a tiny bit of the purple came off into the water. Not a deal-breaker, but worth knowing before your first wear.
